Peut-on normaliser la néologie terminologie ?
Abstract
The article examines the legitimacy of standardizing terminology as it is created, and examines the theories and research which go towards explaining how new terms actually come into being and how they may be standardized. It is suggested that this is counterproductive in scientific research, except in certain well known areas. On the other hand, standardizing terminology has an important part to play in industry, though in forms which may be relatively informal.
L'article propose une analyse de la légitimité de la normalisation en néologie terminologique, et examine les théories et les courants de recherche susceptibles de mettre en lumière les processus en jeu. Il en ressort, malgré l'existence de circonstances où elle se justifie, qu'elle est généralement prématurée au niveau de la recherche scientifique. En revanche, dans le monde industriel, la normalisation a un rôle important à jouer, souvent sous une forme relativement peu officielle.
