Constructions résultatives et identification du résultat

Abstract : Resultative structures combine two lexis schemas, the second one being able to indicate that the process of the first lexis has reached an endpoint, in which case only change of state is maintained in the French translation. However, the process of the first lexis is not necessarily viewed as having an endpoint. The interlexis relation may trigger a threshold effect, in which case either subjective evaluation or a relation of concomitance is emphasised in the French translation – more specifically when perception is at stake. Change of state may also be blocked by continuous dynamic alteration, which requires a causative verb in the French translation.
