Violeta Parra's course of life, a quite singular and original one, has been the inspiration of her tremendous musical and poetic work. Investigator and artist of many talents, Chilean folklore was her whole life. With her strong temper and willingness, she contributed in a brilliant way to give back to Chilean folklore its authenticity, projecting it on front of the national as well as the international scene, giving it a visibility it had never had before. Becoming famous all over the world, she reached universality through art and trough the particularity of the Chilean region, preparing the cultural and political changes that Chile would experience at the end of the sixties.
Parcours singulier et original, la vie de Violeta Parra est bien la source d'inspiration de son immense oeuvre musicale et poétique. Chercheuse et artiste aux multiples talents, le folklore chilien a été toute sa vie. Forte d'une terrible volonté, elle a contribué de façon magistrale à rendre au folklore chilien son authenticité et à lui procurer une visibilité en tant que tel aussi bien sur la scène nationale qu'internationale. Connue à travers le monde, elle est parvenue à travers l'art à rendre universelle une particularité qui n'était que régionale, préparant ainsi le tournant culturel et politique que connaît le Chili à la fin des années soixante.
