This article does not deal with a specific translation method by specialists. Using available data, we study how Vietnamese discourse markers (DM) are translated into French. From the same unit of the source language, the discourse semantic of the DM is sometimes not retained, sometimes poorly or faithfully converted onto the target language in translation. This article will examine criteria for this heterogeneity. It will also look into whether or not there is a stable and homogeneous way to translate discourse markers from one language into another.
